All my life I’ve remained curious about how to communicate clearly and with heart, and I do my best to integrate those lessons into my life for the benefit of my family and my community.
My journey as a facilitator began with a weekend at Woman Within, an organization dedicated to empowering women. This year I celebrated 22 years of involvement with the organization, watching in awe as hundreds of women have claimed the beauty and power of who they are. I have participated in and guided many women’s circles. I have learned to trust by allowing myself to be vulnerable and by having healthy boundaries.
As a wife and mother, I benefitted from taking parenting classes and workshops that allowed my husband and me to create a flexible family structure. With my husband starting various companies and writing books, maintaining life balance was a constant challenge.
We moved from Washington, DC to a small ranch in Southern Oregon in 2001. For 11 years, I lived next to my father as he struggled with his diabetes and heart problems. Our relationship was rich and close.
When my daughters were in middle school I started a circle of girls through The Rose Circle Mentoring Network, that met every two weeks in our living room, continuing through high school graduation. In this safe setting, the girls were able to share their hopes and fears around body image, drugs, alcohol, boys, friendships, etc. My eldest daughter and I served on The Rose Circle board together and launched the first Camp Luna, a wilderness rites-of-passage camp for girls ages 11-14. I guided girls circles for ten years.
Since 2008, I have been a life coach. I was certified through New Ventures West in San Francisco as an Integral Coach and am accredited by the International Coach Federation. I became a mediator through Mediation Works, and refreshed my knowledge of families with young children through Simplicity Parenting. I am also a certified Academic Life Coach, using skills from John Andrew Williams' program. John taught Latin at St. Mary's in Medford before working with hundreds of students and then training coaches.
As a member of Rotary International, I work with the Interact Club at Ashland High School, and am active with the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), a six-day summer leadership camp for high school students. I served two years as the counselor for our Youth Exchange students and am now the co-chair for our District Conference in 2018.
Through Balanced Life Coaching, I continue to learn how to balance my life and to live with greater clarity and grace. I live my values and have a deep sense of belonging. I value community and love making it stronger through my work. I look forward to connecting with you!
